As part of a five-year town regeneration programme, Forest of Dean Stone Firms supplied over 15,000 sq.m of Forest Pennant mixed colour paving. Pennant Sandstone was chosen as a local, sustainable material but also for the stones natural hard-wearing, quality finish properties which is unrivalled by man-made composite paving. In addition, the paving was pre-treated with a protective coating to combat chewing gum adhesion and to assure that the finish, colours and quality of the freshly stone will stand the test of time.

Forest Pennant Sandstone is the primary material choice for the entire retail centre of Swindon.

Bespoke paving - relief pattern

The Forest Pennant sandstone enhances and complements the surroundings - the appointment as material of choice allowed Forest of Dean Stone Firms to prove the capabilities of our Pennant Sandstone as well as the in-house skills. A section of paving in Canal Walk was shot-blasted to create a water droplet pattern, in a nod to the location; it was worked and finished by hand to produce a raised relief-pattern,
